Is CEE Turning Into A Digital Nomad Hub? Six Cities From The Region In Top 20 Of NomadList’s Ranking
Founded, coded and supported by just one guy, Pieter Levels, for the five years of its existence NomadList has become a go-to source of information for nearly 13k digital nomads and travelers while generating over $1.2m in revenue. In practice, the platform aggregates crowdsourced and public data on the quality of life of over 2500 cities from all over the world.
NomadList collects and visualizes input on a number of indicators relevant for the location-independent generation – safety, cost of living, air quality, internet speed, fun things to do, places to work from, gender, racial and LGBT tolerance, foreigner friendliness, hospitals, temperature, and even walkability. It also has the general Nomad Score™ based on its overall appropriateness for a digital nomad lifestyle.
So, we took a look at the latest Nomad Score™ rankings and found cities from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) among the twenty highest-rated cities – Sofia is 12th, with Budapest being 5th, Belgrade 7th, Prague 8th, Vilnius 15th, and Krakow – 20th. Given the partially crowdsourced nature of the data and possible algorithm subjectivity, the picture is probably not 100% accurate but for most indicators, the information seems in line with other research on the topic. Below you can explore how the different cities in CEE compare when it comes to 13 selected measures while additional and up-to-date information can be found on Nomadlist’s website.
Keep in mind that data on Nomadlist is updated every ten minutes, so due to changes in air quality, temperature, and other constantly shifting signals, some slight fluctuations in rankings may appear.
