Romanian audiobook platform Voxa expands to Moldova and aims for a new financing
VOXA, former Storis, is the first native Romanian audiobook platform. Founded just a year ago, the company is growing rapidly. The goal of the startup to expand to the Republic of Moldova is now turning into reality. The Voxa team announced its expansion to Moldova and pointed out this is just the first step of the company’s strategic development plan. To finance its expansion, the Romanian company opens a new round of financing aiming at €800.000 on SeedBlink.
“Voxa is expanding, and our results so far give us the confidence to go abroad. We are optimistically stepping into the market of the Republic of Moldova, where we are ready to transform the book industry by bringing books closer to the readers with the help of technology. By the end of the year, we estimate that almost 10% of the total number of our users will be from the Republic of Moldova”, said Dan Vidrașcu, CEO of Voxa.
The major growth of the Romanian startup could be explained by the existing need for audio- and e-books in Romania and the neighboring market. Half a year after its launch, Voxa has over 10.000 audiobooks and nearly 80.000 users who accumulated more than 700.000 hours of listening. By the end of the year, the team estimates it will have over 250,000 users. Until now, the platform was available in Romanian and English. With the new expansion, the company will add one more language as a feature.
“Our catalog is growing very fast, we expect to offer over 35,000 titles by the end of July. Our plans are comprehensive, we also target other new markets, taking into account that by the end of the year we estimate that 30% of users will be from the diaspora”, said Dan Vidrașcu.
With a value of over €100 million the audiobook provider plans to expand in Bulgaria, Hungary, and Germany.
